Golden Gate Saloon and Dining Room

Director of Design, Project Management, Interior/Exterior Design, Custom Furniture

"This building has been made from canvas, wood, soil, and stone, burned to the ground, rebuilt, renamed, and gussied up for innumerable guests. It’s seen gambling, gunfights, good times and bad. Fortunes made and pure gold lost. Haunted by rough cowboys and Victorian madams, their secrets forever safe within the storied walls. Legend tells us even prohibition didn’t stop the whiskey from being served in the saloon."

Working with the historic elements of the space, such as the back bar’s onyx pillars and original copper-clad walls, we wanted to tell the story of the journeymen who passed through this historic post and all they brought to the space: their gold; their treasures; their hunts; their tales. To achieve this, we installed new mahogany coffered ceilings, a new bar, refurbished back bar, custom barstools, chairs, and tables, an updated steel/glass elevator, and new wood floors throughout, bringing a spirited atmosphere that feels historic to its core. The dining room is adorned with taxidermy and art depicting worldly travels and wonders, evoking the former patrons’ travels. The mahogany banquette was built to become one with the vintage mantle we retrofitted for the space. Leather, plaids, stripes, and florals help to create a sanctum for storytelling under the glow of the fireplace as the vintage brass-and-milk-glass chandelier keeps watch overhead.f the fireplace and vintage brass and milk glass chandelier overhead.
