Founder/Creative Director
Anne L’Esperance

Anne launched her company An Ellipsis Design in 2019 after more than 10 years of experience in the design world. She relishes every part of the design process and loves to work with contractors and clients as a project develops from ideation to finishing touches. Her unique skill set and vision allow her to find creative solutions for every space and every project.

An Ellipsis Design offers a complete roster of consulting and design services in architectural, interior, landscape, lighting, and furniture designs. Anne makes sure that each solution is custom-tailored with care to the specific needs of every client and project.

Anne's interest in design and creative space developed when she was young, as she witnessed multiple family home remodels. She was given a sledgehammer to open up the walls in her room, which sparked the intrigue of building, renovation, and the endless possibilities for each space. She believes that every space should be a reflection of its inhabitants and takes a comprehensive approach when designing to fully understand the intention of a project.

She worked for the Lightning Bar Collective in Portland, OR while studying Architecture at Portland State University. After working for multiple architects in the Seattle area she partnered with the founder of the Lightning Bar Collective to design Villa Royale in Palm Springs then later another hotel, Azure Sky. She is currently working on projects in Northern California and the Santa Barbara area and loves to travel for projects she’s passionate about. When not working, you can find her dancing, doing yoga, spending time with her dogs, relaxing outdoors, driving the open road, and seeking out the sea.

“Daydream transports the dreamer outside the immediate world to a world that bears the mark of infinity.”

Philosophy & Process

Space should improve life; it should serve as a reflection of its inhabitants. That means that the smallest change can make a world of difference…change that can be hard to notice at first blush. But when one looks closer…every detail plays its part in the feel of a space. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. With that ethos, Anne takes a truly comprehensive approach to design.

The first step is immersion. Whether it's standing on the blank slate of a new build or walking the halls of a 150-year-old building ready for its new life, An Ellipsis Design begins by occupying the space, ensuring that "feel" remains the north star that guides the entire process. On screen or within the space, the designer must sit and grow with what is being created and what it becomes.
